“The Net” informs both form and experience, translating a simple concept into layered spatial expression. Custom signage integrates woven rope and references netball hoops, while net curtains and a feature ceiling installation in the ramp area reinterpret the idea at different scales. These elements create a cohesive narrative that speaks to both the sport and its community.
Following the 2023 floods in Auckland, Netball North Harbour transformed remedial works into a full interior renovation, turning challenge into opportunity. The concept, “The Net,” became both a literal and symbolic driver, referencing netball geometry and the tightly knit community the club represents. From arrival, the foyer sets a confident yet welcoming tone. Club colours are applied with refinement, providing enduring identity. Subtle nods to netball, including a Kaynemaile ceiling above the accessibility ramp and graphics in the players’ lounge, reinforce the narrative without overwhelming the space. Functionality guided the design. Circulation is clear, spaces are flexible, and two function rooms were reimagined with a contemporary, hotel-inspired aesthetic, elevating experiences for sponsors and events while supporting day-to-day operations. The result is more than a renovation, it is a renewed home for a thriving sporting community, connection visible in both form and feeling, strong, interwoven, and proudly supportive of the generations it serves.
