Layered textures, soft colour, and classic Winkelman tiles introduce warmth and character, creating a home that feels both refined and deeply liveable.
Completed in 2024, the Rukutai Family Home reimagines a 2000s modern build into a layered, welcoming home grounded in warmth and functionality. The brief centred on generous storage and flexible spaces to support family life, while retaining white walls as a calm architectural backdrop. The clients’ experience living abroad informed a subtle European influence, inspiring a timeless sensibility expressed through proportion, materiality, and detail rather than overt style. Character was introduced through texture, pattern, and considered colour in furnishings and finishes. Warm oak timber threads through the home, softening modern lines and adding a sense of craft. Bespoke timber cabinetry integrates seamlessly into the architecture, resolving practical storage needs while enhancing spatial rhythm. Bathrooms were redesigned to feel timeless yet playful, with tiles and cabinetry referencing understated European elegance. The result is a home that feels elevated and deeply liveable, a harmonious balance of practicality, aesthetic warmth, and personal expression.
